From 60 hours to 40 hours: how Oracle transforms entrepreneurs' lives

From 60 hours to 40 hours: how Oracle transforms entrepreneurs' lives
FIG 0.1 · LECTURE

There's a myth in entrepreneurial culture: the hours you put in are directly proportional to success. Working 60 hours a week is seen as a mark of seriousness, dedication, ambition. Refusing to take a vacation is almost a point of pride.

The reality is that this myth kills businesses and families. Entrepreneurs who work too long end up making bad decisions, losing their passion, and burning out before reaching their goals.

Oracle isn't just a productivity tool — it's a tool for freedom. Here's how it concretely changes the lives of the entrepreneurs who adopt it.

The before picture: 60 hours a week

Marie-France runs a commercial cleaning company in Longueuil. 12 employees, 60 active clients, $850,000 in annual revenue. Before Oracle, her typical week looked like this: Monday and Tuesday in the field supervising the crews, Wednesday at the office for invoices and emails, Thursday for quotes and client calls, Friday for administrative paperwork. Saturday morning to 'finish what's left'. No Sunday off in two years.

Total: 58 to 65 hours a week. Decent personal income, but health, family, and passion were suffering.

The time audit: where do your hours really go?

Before rolling out Oracle, we suggest doing a one-week time audit. You note everything you do and how long it takes. Most entrepreneurs are surprised by the results.

On average, entrepreneurs at 60 hours a week spend: 12-15 hours on administration and follow-up (invoices, emails, reminders). 8-10 hours on team coordination (meetings, texts, clarifications). 6-8 hours on reports and analysis. 5-7 hours hunting for information they should have at their fingertips. 10-12 hours on non-delegable work that genuinely requires their expertise.

If you add it up, between 30 and 40 hours a week go into repetitive operational tasks that Oracle can automate or make considerably easier.

How Oracle transforms the work week

Back to Marie-France. Three months after rolling out Oracle, here's what changed.

Administration: Oracle automatically generates and sends the invoices for recurring clients. It tracks payments and sends reminders. It prepares quotes from the defined templates. What used to take 12 hours a week now takes 3 — for reviewing and approving the non-standard items.

Team coordination: Oracle assigns crews to clients based on the schedule and their skills. It sends the routes automatically. It tracks tasks and flags the gaps. Marie-France gets a 5-minute summary instead of 10 clarification texts. From 8-10 hours down to 2-3 hours.

Reports: Oracle automatically generates the weekly report, the monthly client report, and the performance tracking. From 6 hours down to 30 minutes.

Information hunting: Oracle centralizes and instantly retrieves the info for every client, every project, every conversation. From 5-7 hours down to less than an hour.

The result: 38 hours a week

After three months, Marie-France works 38 hours a week. Her revenue rose by 12% — because she used the reclaimed hours to prospect new clients and develop a premium service she never had time to structure before.

She takes her Saturdays. She had a real vacation for the first time in five years. Her relationship with her kids has improved. And paradoxically, her team performs better — because a manager who isn't in permanent survival mode makes better decisions.

What you do with the reclaimed time matters

Reclaiming 20 hours a week and using them to watch Netflix is a valid choice — you earned it. But the highest-performing entrepreneurs we know do something strategic with that time.

They invest in client relationships: not just to sell, but to deeply understand the needs of their best clients. They develop new offers or services. They train their team so it becomes more autonomous. They do strategic networking. Or they take care of themselves, which improves their performance across the board.

The obstacles to change

The main obstacle isn't the technology. It's psychological. Many entrepreneurs have an identity built around intense work. Working 40 hours instead of 60 is scary — 'am I still working hard enough?'

The answer: efficiency isn't measured in hours. It's measured in results. An entrepreneur who generates $850,000 in revenue in 38 hours is more efficient than the same entrepreneur generating $850,000 in 60 hours. And he's more likely to move up to $1,200,000 the following year.

Getting the change started

Oracle isn't going to transform your work week overnight. The change happens gradually, over 3 to 6 months. In the first week, you might reclaim 3 hours. The first time around, you'll be tempted to fill those hours with other urgent tasks. Resist.

Recommended transition plan: Month 1 — automate the most repetitive tasks (billing, reminders, reports). Month 2 — expand to team coordination and pipeline management. Month 3 — hand Oracle the proactive monitoring and the analysis.

By the end of month 3, most of our clients are between 38 and 45 hours a week. Those who were at 70 hours are often down to 50. The journey continues.

The real ROI of Oracle

Oracle costs $349/month in the Business plan. The real return on investment isn't just the hours saved — it's the quality of life you get back, the decisions made with a clear mind, the long-term vision you can finally articulate because you're no longer in survival mode.

It's hard to put a number on that. But ask any entrepreneur who made the switch from 60 hours to 40 hours what it's worth to them. The answer is always the same: it's priceless.
